Portico film club!
15.01.26 19:00
Come and enjoy 20th Century Women at Portico Film Club, where cinema meets community. Set in late‑70s California, this warm, funny, and heartfelt story follows three women figuring out life, love, and change in their own ways. It’s a film about connection, resilience, and the everyday moments that shape us.Around the film we have newly formed local band Divinus playing and a set of related shorts and maybe some post punk records thrown in for good measure.
It’s a free event, although a contribution towards the license fee would be nice.

BURNS NIGHT
30.01.26 19:00 - 00:00
Folk Of The Wood returns to SE27's Portico Gallery on Friday 30th Jan, 2026 for a night of unbridled Burns inspired merriment! Full details and earlybird tickets available from www.folkstars.co.uk/burns
Hosts Ceilidh Tree ("Jig yourself into a frenzy" - Timeout) will be laying on three sets of folk-dance fun with stomping fiddles and caller Zoot to show the moves. Expect classics like Dashing White Sergeant and Strip The Willow alongside some lesser known alt-ceilidh gems. We'll also be welcoming a highland piper plus guest orator Kevin McGlue to summon the spirit of the great man Burns. Full bar plus haggis on sale by Beamish & McGlue (meat and vegan), pre-ordering in advance is recommended (£12). Proceeds from the event are going towards Folkstars (www.folkstars.co.uk) a non-profit setup to give more primary school kids the chance to learn an instrument.
